Meet Harris Osman (@hxrrs), widely known as Singapore's "Street Therapist" for his soulful performances, inviting people to pause for a moment, listen to his music and just feel. Harris was raised in a family that loved music, beginning to sing at a young stage and pursued his passion with his school performances, and eventually performances on the streets with his lagu galau, or emotional ballads in Malay (and also some in English), sharing his emotional covers with the audience. He also has his own single, Rest, released in 2019.
Like Jeff Ng (who performed here at Marina Bay for the previous three weeks), Harris's performances also has a community following - in fact so many have kept coming back for more of his lagu galau. Harris loves to interact with the public, and these performances are a platform for him to share his music journey, his reflections and his thankfulness for his family and the community for supporting him all the way. He also strengthens the street artist community by having an "Open Mic" show, inviting the audience to perform with him and helping them build confidence to perform in public.
Honestly, it is a different kind of vibe after listening to mainly English and Mandopop in other busking performances, and hopefully I might be able to include more songs in Malay this season.
