Where I belong, where I keep my heart and soul...
Not only was this the second of the five busking sessions at The Clementi Mall which I went, but also the first time I chased on a National Day. Evan's busking session featured more towards S-Pop that day, featuring songs performed by Singaporean musicians and/or written and composed by Singaporean songwriters and producers, with a couple of National Day songs thrown in.
The two songs I have selected for that day were both originally performed by Tanya Chua:
无底洞 [originally performed by Tanya Chua (蔡健雅)]
This song is from Tanya's fourth studio album "Stranger" (陌生人), released in 2003, featuring lyrics by Xiaohan and music composed by Eric Ng. The song depicts the urban dweller's struggle to escape loneliness, their desperate attempts to navigate through pale and empty relationships, yet their inability to find satisfaction.
Where I Belong (NDP 2001 theme song, originally performed by Tanya Chua)
It is not only one of the songs that will be included in both the Busking and Gig Chases in season two, it is also the first NDP songs on both S2 Chases. This is the theme song for the National Day Parade in 2001, themed "Together, We Make The Difference". The song's Mandarin version is titled 属于, also performed by Tanya.
