Evan Goh - The Clementi Mall - 29 Jul 2025

The Clementi Mall was a former busking location that was onboarded in mid-July 2025, and open during the late afternoon and evening hours on selected days. It is quite well utilized during its time as a busking location, and has a good traffic flow, with crowds passing through for the Clementi Town Centre and a bus stop/interchange and MRT station nearby (not to mention that there are two malls that are next door to each other). However, the opening hours kept changing, with busking hours gradually reduced before it was delisted as a busking location in December the same year. It was a pity that this location was delisted (I live nearby), but I was glad I could come down to watch buskers perform there on five occasions. Hopefully at some point in the future, they might allow busking activities to resume here at The Clementi Mall, or onboard a new busking location nearby.

This is the first of the five busking sessions at The Clementi Mall which I went, featuring Evan Goh.

• 一个人生活 [originally performed by Freya Lim (林凡)]
  • This song was released in 2000, included in Freya Lim's debut album of the same name and is used as the ending theme for the Taiwanese costume drama The Beauty Mermaid (天地传说之鱼美人). Freya re-recorded the same song for The Fierce Wife: Final Episode (犀利人妻最终回：幸福男·不难) original movie soundtrack.
• 我不难过 [originally performed by Stefanie Sun (孙燕姿)]
  • This song explores the bittersweet reality of a breakup, conveying a façade of brave acceptance; the lyrics were written by the late Jacky Yang (杨明学), who was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. Stefanie Sun selected a few of his works to support him, and she included this song as the lead single for her sixth album To Be Continued... (未完成), released in 2003. Despite Jacky Yang's fierce battle against this cancer, he passed on a year later, and because of this tragic backstory, the song's themes take on a much deeper meaning as if it carries the weight of a young creator facing his own final departure.
