Stay Tuned - ArtsEverywhere@CDC - Queenstown - 24 May 2025
Second PassionArts Chase.
On our second PassionArts Chase, we head to Queenstown to watch Stay Tuned (别走调) (@stay_tunedsg) perform. And the Queenstown ArtsEverywhere@CDC Street Performance is located outside Margaret Market, which used to be the former Commonwealth Avenue Wet Market & Food Centre that began construction in 1956 and opened four years later.

The Margaret Marketplace used to be the former Commonwealth Avenue Wet Market & Food Centre that opened in 1960. The area is also home to the Margaret Drive Hawker Centre and the SkyResidence@Dawson HDB.
At the time, it was one of the first covered market and food centre building. Well after the wet market moved to a new location, the building was once converted into what I believe was a furniture showroom on the second floor and restaurants on the first, before it was refurbished again into the current Margaret Market.

This is actually the first time I have covered the two-member male group Stay Tuned, which comprises of Ng Hon Meng and Martin Choo, and they perform mainly emo songs. They also busk on the streets as well.

The two songs picked from this street performance are:
- 命硬 [originally performed by Justin Lo (側田)]
- This song is from Lo's debut album Justin. The song's literal meaning is "extremely resilient", and the lyrics signify a strong will to continue to love fearlessly even in the face of adversity and hardship.
- 猜不透 [originally performed by Della Ding (丁当)]
- This R&B song is from Della's second album Decisively Loved (我爱上的). It aims to express the heartache and resilience of independent women in their approach to love.

The ArtsEverywhere@CDC is an initiative that brings arts experiences and vibrancy to communities where they live, work and play. Members of the public can look forward to art performance around Singapore and support street performers. This initiative is in line with the organisers' aspiration to build A Connected Society, where social connections and national identity are strengthened through the arts.
ArtsEverywhere @ CDC is a collaboration between the National Arts Council, People's Association, and the five Community Development Councils, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.
