Edmund Ong - Dhoby Ghaut MRT station - 22 Jun 2025
We found each other, pulled towards each other under the same sky...
Meet Edmund Ong (@noju_music), an up-and-coming musician who is one of a handful of buskers who specialize in J-Pop. He has been busking on the streets since 2024, and has a repertoire that includes music from the Digimon anime to Jay Chou. He also performs a handful of English classics as well as non-Jay Chou Mandarin songs. Outside of busking, he is also known as a graphic designer who does character art (He has an art shop selling his own prints, go check it out).
The two songs picked from this busking session are both originally performed by Yuuri (優里):
- Dried Flower (ドライフラワー)
- This is Yuuri's first hit single, depicting the breakup experienced by two people from the woman's perspective, as well as the conflicting emotions of both people. The song became popular after it appeared on a well-known YouTube channel (The First Take) where singers are invited to perform a song recorded in one take in a white studio, and topped Billboard Japan's 2021 year-end charts with over one billion streams and over 450,000 digital downloads.
- BETELGEUSE (ベテルギウス)
- This is the theme song for the Fuji TV workplace drama Super Rich. The song's theme itself describes the connection and bonds between people.
