Harmon-ee Music performing at ArtsEverywhere@CDC - Telok Blangah on 11 May 2025.

We embark on our first ever PassionArts Chase (specifically the ArtsEverywhere@CDC Street Performances), where street performers would come down to the heartland community spaces to perform. These street performances occur during weekends and Friday evenings, with each division holding performances once a month, at specific timings. Every month, members of the public can look forward to different street performers in the communities, and the ArtsEverywhere@CDC initiative is in line with the organisers' aspiration to build A Connected Society, where social connections and national identity are strengthened through the arts.

For our first PassionArts Chase, we head to Telok Blangah, which is not very close to where I live but still in the same division. It is one of the more tranquil residential area, but it also has many "hidden gems". There are all these neighbourhood shops selling daily necessities, a market and food centre offering food options, and a community club nearby. There is also an SG50 Mural Wall that kind of captures what the area is synonymous with - the cable cars, the Sentosa Merlion (since demolished), and the Henderson Waves.

The street performers for the month of May 2025 at Telok Blangah is Harmon-ee Music (@jovanandiveta), a husband-and-wife duo comprised of Jovan and Iveta. They have been performing since 2019 at various events, as well as busking on the streets. They also have more than 20 years of combined experience in performing and teaching and provides vocal and piano lessons as well as coaching. In addition, they have also released their original music, including Onward, Only One and Christmastide.

The two songs picked from this street performance are:

  • Make You Feel My Love (originally performed by Bob Dylan)
    • This heartfelt ballad about unconditional devotion and the longing to prove one's affection to someone who is hesitant or heartbroken is notably covered by singers such as Billy Joel, Garth Brooks and more notably, Adele. It is one of the few songs to become a standard in the 21st century.
  • The One (originally performed by Kodaline)
    • This signature song from the Irish band is the second single from the band's second studio album Coming Up for Air (2015).
