Groovin' With The Star @ The Star Vista - 29/30 Aug 2025
Six months of Groovin' With The Star with the signature hits.
Six months into Groovin' With The Star gives us the little changes that can make a big impact wherever you look at it. Firstly, this is the first time I brought my DSLR camera into Groovin' With The Star (I have previously used mobile photography on my posts), so hopefully the photographs that come out might be better than the ones on my mobile phone (trust me, I have always wanted to shoot on professional cameras).
With Tree Storey relocated to the first floor, CRAVE and Chagee had set up shop. These two are prominently located opposite the stage area - one serving best-selling nasi lemak, the other serving best-selling milk tea. Tree Storey itself is located in The Open Stage, an air-conditioned retail experience with the customer service counter located in it.
And secondly, Music Heart Band also saw new members that are now covered in this blog post, with Hui Yi (keyboard) and Chloe (vocals) being joined by Chelsea (vocals, performing on the GWTS stage for the first time) and Wei Fan (guitar, returning from an earlier month).
blue (originally performed by yung kai) - Karyn & Sheng Li
This is the signature song from the up-and-coming Canadian singer Yung Kai, whose real name is Max Zhang. Released in 2024, This indie-pop song is a dreamy love song about having a romantic crush and imagining what being in love with the crush would feel like. The song is very popular on social media, streamed on various music platforms over a billion times and became a chart-topper in several countries.
稻香 [originally performed by Jay Chou (周杰伦)] - Karyn & Sheng Li
Another signature song by Jay Chou, released in 2008 in his studio album "Capricorn" (魔杰座). This song draws inspiration from Chou's childhood memories, depicting contemporary urban city dwellers burdened by societal and life pressures, and their growing desire to retreat to a simpler, rural existence. This song won Song of the Year at both the Beijing Pop Music Awards and the Golden Melody Awards in 2009, and had a rock remix in 2024, as part of Sprite Taiwan's "Stay Cool" summer campaign.
Somewhere Only We Know (originally performed by Keane) - Music Heart Band
This song comes from the alt-rock band's debut album in 2004, titled "Hopes and Fears" (which became one of the best-selling UK albums of the decade). This song is described by co-writer/pianist Tim Rice-Oxley as being able to draw strength from a shared place or experience, and evokes the feeling of coming together in hard times.
喜欢你 [originally performed by Kit Chan (陈洁仪)] - Music Heart Band
Kit Chan's signature song, released in 1996 with composition and lyrics by xinyao icon Liang Wern Fook. The song has a tender melody and poetic lyrics and beautifully captures the sweet, deeply affectionate feelings of being in love.
