The first solo busker in season two of the Busking Chase, and also the youngest busker so far.
Meet Shayne Ko (@shaynemusicsg), an aspiring young pianist and drummer who has recently joined the busking scene last year. Shayne played the piano at a couple of MRT stations and was a regular guest at Suntec City's Music in the City (which was hosted by Karyn & Sheng Li, before being recently handed over to another band). He is the first solo busker to be featured in season two of the Busking Chase, and at 9 years old, is also currently the youngest busker covered (as well as being the youngest busker in the first season). He mainly covers instrumental pieces, ranging from the classic pieces like Kiss the Rain, to latest hits such as 告白气球 and Die With A Smile.
The two instrumentals I have picked from the busking session are:
- Perfect (originally performed by Ed Sheeran)
- This will be the first song in English covered in Busking Chase Season 2. The song also has two duet versions, one with Beyoncé, and another with Andrea Bocelli.
- Kiss the Rain × River Flows in You (originally performed by Yiruma)
- This is a mashup of two of the popular instrumentals by South Korean pianist-composer Yiruma, who held a performance in Singapore the previous week.
