Music Heart Band - Groovin' With The Star @ The Star Vista - 26 Apr 2025

Meet Music Heart Band (乐点心) (@musicheartband), a band of eight musicians (yes, you've heard that right!) with talents ranging from keyboard, guitar and drums and powerhouse vocalists, producing, composing and writing lyrics. From busking in the streets and monthly livestreams on social media, they have also performed in community events, corporate gigs and weddings, with the band at the time taking the stage at Suntec City's Music in the City. And since March this year, the band also performed at The Star Vista's Groovin' With The Star, performing on the last Saturday of every month (Karyn & Sheng Li perform on the last Friday of every month).

Of note it is rare to have all eight members perform together, and usually it is more likely to have four or five members in each performance - some band members are more active than others, or they can perform concurrently at different locations with different teams. Audiences can get to experience different dynamics, different musical styles, same soulful tunes from time to time, as members take turns to perform for each performance, though overall, the band's vision is to connect with people through music and the range of musical activities and services they provide to the communities.

On the second month (which is also my first tim covering MHB) of Groovin' With The Star, MHB's lineup consists of:

• Jaden - guitar

Tonight's dinner: Ajisen Tanjiro (#B1-08)

Basically, this is an extension of the Ajisen Ramen brand and carries the parent brand's signatures, in addition to rice set meals and maze soba (dry ramen), as well as side dishes.

The two songs picked from this performance are:

• 如果的事 [originally performed by Christine Fan (范玮琪) and Angela Chang (张韶涵)]
  • This is a duet from the year 2005 by two of Taiwanese female singers Fan and Chang, who were under the same record company at the time. It is also included in Fan's album One to One (一比一).
• 小城夏天 (originally performed by LBI利比)
  • LBI may be famous for singing the hit single Jumping Machine (跳楼机), though he did release other lesser-known songs before that, such as this summer romance-themed song that also interweaves a couple of Jay Chou's song titles.
