I'm in love with you, and now you know...

Karyn & Sheng Li - Groovin' With The Star @ The Star Vista - 25 Apr 2025
Karyn & Sheng Li performing at Groovin' With The Star @ The Star Vista on 25 April 2025.

We return to The Star Vista for the second month of Groovin' With The Star, with it being my first month covering both Karyn & Sheng Li and Music Heart Band (more in a later post).

There is noticeably a larger crowd than the previous month (could this be due to my compilation video, or it's just that the event is getting noticed?), with some audiences (like me) coming back for more, new audiences who joined, as well as more young ones. Among them are Cayson and Chevelle, two children who joined the duo for a song titled 热爱105°C的你, originally performed by A Si (阿肆). With regards to this song, and an interesting one at that, is that it was initially used as an advertisement song for Watsons Distilled Water in China back in 2019, but became an internet meme after a cover by a Douyin user went viral two years later. This cheerful, catchy and positive song is also selected as one of the Top 10 BGMs of 2021 by the major Chinese newspaper People's Daily.

As the first chase during a General Election period in Singapore, this is also the first time the Zhao Chuan song I'm A Tiny Bird (我是一只小小鸟) is being referred to as the song popular in Ang Mo Kio (iykyk) at the time.

Two other songs picked from this performance:

  • 我多喜欢你,你会知道 [originally performed by Wang Jun Qi (王俊琪)]
    • This song is the theme song for the Chinese idol drama A Love So Beautiful (致我们单纯的小美好), which stars Hu Yitian and Shen Yue. It is also used as a soundcheck song for Karyn & Sheng Li, and they usually perform this before their performances.
  • Fly Me To The Moon (originally performed by Kaye Ballard as "In Other Words")
    • Written by Bart Howard, the first commercial recording was performed by Kaye Ballard as "In Other Words", with the song recorded over the years by more singers like Peggy Lee, Connie Francis and most notably, Frank Sinatra (whose recording became closely associated with the Apollo missions to the Moon). As the song became more popular, its name was changed to its present name.
