Presenting the most-chased after busker in the first season of the Busking Chase!
Let me introduce you to Evan Goh (吴宇凡) (@evantellstories), the busker who I've chased the most last year!
So if you have been following my Busking Chase in Season 1, you will surely come across one of Evan (also known as the Emo Guy)'s covers of popular ballads. Beginning his musical journey at gigs (open mics, cafes, corporate events), he began busking since around 10 years ago, where he hits the right guitar strings and heals the audience with his sad songs. (I'm not kidding when I mean heal. He really does heal me with his soulful tunes.👍)
He is also a very well-known busker - if you recall, he competed in Mediacorp's Battle of the Buskers (游走的歌王) and finished in the top three (alongside the group T Junction). And as you can tell, he's my personal favourite busker, and the most-chased after (58 reels on Instagram).
The two songs I've picked from this busking session are both signature songs:
- 知足 [originally performed by Mayday (五月天)]
- This is the opening theme song of the local drama series A Promise for Tomorrow (拥抱明天) (2005). This song is the first Mayday song to be covered in Busking Chase Season 2.
- 人质 [originally performed by A-Mei Chang (张惠妹)]
- Of note, this song is composed by local songwriter/producer/arranger Eric Ng (黄韵仁). This is the song performed during the Top 10 showcase round of Battle of the Buskers. It is also the first A-Mei song to be covered in Season 2.
